Easy Sweetened Whipped Cream
I love whipped cream, but have always had trouble making it or it doesn’t hold up very long. I have tried several different times but it is hard to get it right. I decided to try again this week. I did some research and discovered a new recipe. It was so easy, it came out so smooth and it held it’s shape. It didn’t even melt when I put on the sweetened peaches that I had prepped that morning for dessert.
This whipped cream recipe uses powdered sugar instead of granulated sugar, this is what helps it be more stable and so smooth. The recipe called for vanilla extract but you could use any flavoring to change it up for whatever recipe you are pairing it with. I adjusted the recipe to how much heavy cream was in the container I purchase since I would probably just throw away whatever was left over.
I put a large glass mixing bowl in the freezer while we ate our supper. Then as soon as supper was over, I dumped all the ingredients in the chilled bowl.
I started the mixer on low until all the ingredients were mixed well and gradually increased the speed as the whipped cream gained volume. I kept beating on high until it started holding the shape from the beaters. I didn’t time how long it took to whip up, but I would guess about 5 minutes, no more than 10 minutes for sure.
It was ready to serve right away. It didn’t have to be chilled or allowed to set or anything. I stirred it up and spooned it on top of our peaches. My daughter loved it, but I would have preferred it to be a little sweeter so next time I will use 1 cup of powdered sugar to make it just a little sweeter. You can adjust the sugar if you prefer your whipped cream more or less sweetened. I wouldn’t use less than 1/2 cup of powdered sugar or it might not hold up as well.
We had some leftover after we ate dessert, so I put it in a bowl in the refrigerator to see how it held up over time. It was still great the next day. It didn’t melt or liquefy like some recipes I have tried before. We weren’t home that night for supper so it made it another day and was just as good the third night as it was the first night. I can’t wait to try it in my Strawberry Pineapple Trifle.
