Organizing

Our house was built in the 60’s and does not have very much storage space, so I need to make the most of what I have.  I don’t use complicated organizing systems but there are some simple products that make my life so much easier.  I want to share some favorites with you.  I have had some of mine for a long time so I have tried to find a similar product on Amazon.  The product pictures below contain affiliate links to the product on Amazon, if you click through the link and make a purchase, I earn a small percentage of the sale.

I have had a corner shelf organizer for years and love it.  It allows me to put my dishes all together, but they are not stacked on top of each other.  It makes it is easy to get a plate without moving the saucers off or trying to drag one out from the middle of the stack.  It just sits on the shelf  and has worked in all my kitchens over the years.

I have 2 of these wrap organizers, I have them hanging inside my small kitchen closet.  One holds cling wrap, wax paper, freezer wrap, and foil wrap.  The other one holds 4 sizes of plastic food bags, these are a tight fit, and I can’t buy the jumbo sizes, but it keeps them together and easy to grab.

My bathroom closet has large spaces between the shelves so I have used 2 of these to create more shelving for the small medicine and toiletries we need.  I recently purchased another one for the kitchen when I did some rearranging so I could stack some different sized casserole dishes.

I have had one of these lazy susans in my bathroom closet for a long time.  I helps to keep all the opened medicine bottles where we can find what we need without having to dig through them.  I bought another one for my spices when I rearranged the cabinets and couldn’t used the organizer that I had been using.

This is the spice rack that I had to replace.  It worked fine for the space I had it in but was too tall for the cabinet I moved my spices into, so I gave it to my son.

I have 2 of these, one is under the bathroom sink and hold our hand towels and wash cloths, the other one us under the kitchen sink and holds extra bottles of dish soap, gloves, and cleaners.  They make the most out of a tall space.

I added this to the back of my kitchen door a couple of years ago to create more storage since I don’t have a real pantry.

This broom and mop holder is great.  It keeps them up off the floor and are easy grab when we need them.  This one is even better than mine because it has the hooks on the front to hold the dustpan and other items.

This holds the iron and the ironing board up on the wall out of the way.

We hang most of our clothes up to dry.  This drying rack has been a lifesaver.  It holds a lot of clothes at the same time which we need since I like to wash most of our clothes on one day each week.

I prefer to hang up most of our clothes, so I used one of these in each of my kids closets when they were younger.  They added a lot of hanging space in their closets.  We were able to use them until they got into adult sizes, then their shirts were too long.

I have had several of these over the years.  The first ones were plastic and broke because I tried to hang too much on them.  Now I have a nice metal one and I try not to overwhelm it either.  It is great for hanging up clothes that I only wore for a short time and plan to wear again, my robe, pajamas, etc…  My husband has one on his closet door for the same thing.  I also have one in the bathroom for towels, robes, etc…  They require no installation, just hang over the door and use.

I bought 2 over-the-door pocket organizers for my boys when they were young.  They were personalized and had different size pockets that we used to hold their small toys like action figures, chalk, and cars.  Really just anything that was small enough to fit in the pockets and didn’t already have a home.  When my oldest outgrew toys, I used his for my daughter.  I put her shoes in it until they got too big, then I put her flip-flops in it.  It works great for them, keeps them where she can see them, get them down and put them back.  This is a little different, but would still work great for small toys or shoes, there are clear versions as well.

I love these for my shoes.  They are easy to use, keeps the dust off the shoes, but allows air to flow since they are not airtight.

These work great for flip flops or flat shoes.  I like mine to lay flat and they will lay side by side in the drawer.  I do not have many shoes so these work for me.  They also work great for markers, hair ties, make-up, craft supplies, office supplies, etc…  They make different sizes of these and they do stack if you need more than one.
