Ravioli Lasagna Pizza Casserole

I had bought some frozen ravioli and had planned to make Lasagna Ravioli in the slow cooker, but forgot to put it on in time.  So I decided to make a casserole in the oven instead. My guys like a lot of meat so I went with a meat lover pizza theme. I filled a large pot with water and brought it to a boil. I then placed the frozen ravioli in the boiling water and boiled the ravioli according to the directions on the bag.

While I was waiting on the ravioli, I gathered all my other ingredients and poured about 1/3 of a jar of garlic and onion pasta sauce in the bottom of a 9″ x 13″ pan and sprinkled cooked ground beef over the sauce.  Since my pasta sauce already had a lot of garlic and onion flavor, I didn’t add any extra, but it would be easy to add minced garlic and onion to the beef when you cook it or just add it raw if you prefer.

Once the ravioli was cooked, I placed one layer over the top and spooned another layer of sauce over the ravioli and scattered a can of mushrooms, about 1/4 of the bag of mozzarella and some small ham chunks over the raviolis and sauce.

Then I finished with the second layer of raviolis, the rest of the sauce and cheese and topped with pepperoni.

These were the meats and pizza toppings that I had on hand and what my guys prefer, but you could add or substitute your favorite toppings.  Due to my version of Meal Planning, I had all the meats in my freezer and refrigerator cooked and ready to use in the casserole and it only took about 15 minutes to put it together.

Since everything was already cooked, it only had to  bake for about 20 minutes, just long enough to heat through and melt the cheese.  I forgot to put salt in the pasta water and didn’t add any seasonings, so it was a little flat, but otherwise it was a hit.  I added Italian seasoning to the recipe for extra flavoring.  I served it with toasted raviolis, mozzarella sticks and marinara.  Garlic Bread and a salad would be great with it as well.

Ingredients

1 bag frozen ravioli

1 24 oz jar pasta sauce

1 8 oz bag shredded mozzarella

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1 can sliced mushrooms

1/4 cup cooked ground beef

1/4 cup diced ham

24 pepperoni slices

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Boil ravioli in salted water according to package directions, drain and set aside. Spread 1/3 jar of pasta sauce in the bottom of a 9″ x 13″ pan, spread ground beef over the sauce and place one layer of raviolis over the beef. Spread another 1/3 of the sauce over the raviolis, sprinkle 1 tsp of Italian seasoning over the sauce and add 1/4 the bag of cheese, the mushrooms and diced ham. Place the second layer of raviolis, and top with the rest of the sauce, cheese and the pepperoni.  Bake for about 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
