Pull-Apart Garlic Bread

I didn’t lay out anything for supper tonight, so about 4:45 pm I went to see what I had in the freezer.  I had a small family size lasagna so I grabbed it and put it in the oven.  It had to cook for 60 minutes, so while it was cooking, I helped my daughter with her homework and then got everything ready for the rest of the meal.  I don’t like lasagna, so I cooked a package of spaghetti and made sauce for me and my daughter.  I didn’t have any lettuce for a salad, so I was trying to figure out what else to cook.  I decided on garlic bread.  My family loves anything with garlic and garlic bread of any kind is always a hit around here.

One of their favorites is easy to make because I use canned biscuits.  I use 1 can of jumbo biscuits and cut each biscuit into 4 pieces.  This is just the right amount to fill a biscuit pan, you could also use a square or round pan instead.  I spread just a little of the butter in the bottom of the pan and then melted the rest of the butter.  I put it in a glass bowl and microwaved in 20 second increments until it melted.  Then I added garlic salt, parsley and Italian seasoning.

We like a lot of garlic salt flavor and right now we have a bottle of Garlic Pepper Salt from Aldis that we really like so that is what I used.  I really don’t measure my spices much when I am cooking, and I usually add real garlic to the butter mixture as well, but didn’t think of it tonight.  I almost forgot to add in the shredded Parmesan but remembered it at the last minute.  I have used mozzarella cheese before when I didn’t have any Parmesan, but I really like the shredded Parmesan better.  It is a very forgiving recipe and you can add or omit the spices to your taste.

Once I mixed it all up, I added the biscuit pieces and made sure they all got covered in the butter mixture.  I placed the biscuit pieces in the pan making sure to spread them out evenly.  Then I cooked them in the oven until they are browned on top and crispy on the bottom.  The edge pieces are my favorite.  The kids love it and usually fight over the last piece, my son even ate all the little crumbs out of the pan tonight.
