Are Timeshares Worth It?
There are all kinds of timeshares. Some are very specific about where you stay and how long you have to stay. The older style timeshares were sold as 1 week every year or every other year at a specific resort. Every company has their own way of laying out a different system. Some of the newer companies figured out that not everyone can take a full week off every year for vacation. The company we bought into has a point system. We purchased points that can be used at a lot of different resorts however we want to use them. The minimum nights required for each resort can vary depending…

The Fourth at Fairfield Bay
A couple of years ago we decided to take a last minute vacation for the Fourth of July holiday. My husband’s work decided that they were going to take the week off with only a week notice. Most of the resorts were booked up for the holidays, but we were able to get a couple of nights at Fairfield Bay, AR before the holiday but they were sold out for the actual holiday. We really enjoyed ourselves the few days we were there. The kids went swimming and we ate at a couple of really good restaurants. We just liked the laid back, easygoing atmosphere of the area. We heard…

Meal Planning for Vacation
I have several packing lists including meal planning for different types of traveling. We like staying in resorts when we travel because they give more room for our family. When we stay in a hotel room we feel like we are all on top of each other. The other advantage to resorts is that they have a full kitchen. This saves a lot of money when we travel. We still eat out sometimes but we don’t have to eat out every meal. When you are feeding 5 at adult prices, it adds up very quickly. I have a food travel list that makes purchasing and packing the items we need…

Creative Family Vacations
Everyone needs to take some time to relax and spend time with their family. We need to do this everyday, but some of our best memories have been made on family vacations. We have lots of fun when we go on vacations, but we can’t always afford to take the vacations that we would like. Sometimes we have to get creative so we can still enjoy time with our family and make memories that last. We have taken all kinds of vacations over the years, with just our immediate family, extended family, the church, youth group, and friends. Many years ago, we were told by an older couple to make…

Spring Break Without the Crowds
Last year for Spring Break we decided at the last minute to return to a resort we had stayed at a few years ago over Thanksgiving. We spent a fun and relaxing week there. It is just outside Crossville, TN. It is a tourist area centered around lakes and golf courses. Of course, summer is the high tourist time so not everything was available during our visit, but we found plenty to keep us busy. At least as busy as we wanted to be. We tend to enjoy low-key vacations where we can just hang out and spend time together. Our resort had an indoor swimming pool which is always…
